Funeral and Memorial Services

We offer our deepest condolences to you on the loss of your loved one, and we express our desire to join with you in making the service a worshipful experience that will be meaningful and live always in your memory. We offer the following as guidelines and information to help you during this difficult time.

“So too in Christ shall all be brought to life.”
1 Corinthians 15:20

Our goal is to support and assist you and your family in putting together a meaningful service for your loved one. After talking to the family, the officiating Pastor will assist the family in creating an appropriate service, and make the necessary arrangements with the church staff and others who need to be involved. This includes the preparation of a program with the Order of Worship featuring favorite scriptures, hymns, songs and other preferred elements.

Services are usually held in our beautiful Historic Sanctuary, although they can be held in our main Sanctuary, if needed.

There is no charge for the use of the building facilities for church members.

Honorariums for officiating pastor(s), organist/pianist, musicians and coordinator are customary but remain at the discretion of the family. Such honorariums should be given directly to those individuals. The following are suggested honorarium amounts:

Officiating Pastor : $150-$225

Organist or Pianist: $100-$125

Funeral Coordinator: $30-$50

(Note: Soloists and additional musicians have not been included but should also be considered for honorariums if used.)

Additional Costs- AV Technician: $75 (per tech)

Historic Sanctuary: services held in the Historic Sanctuary requires one AV Technician

Main Sanctuary: If the service is held in the Main Sanctuary, at least two AV Technicians are needed

Livestream: If the service is livestreamed in the Main Sanctuary, three AV Technicians will be needed.

Non-members will be charged a facility usage fee of $200.

In addition to honorariums for the officiating pastor, organist, AV sound tech, and coordinator, this fee also includes the cost of using our church facilities, as well as the production of service programs. Please make your check payable to FUMCO and note it for memorial or funeral service.

Slideshow Preparation: $75

Soloist or other Musicians: $100 (if provided by FUMCO)

(Note: Receptions are currently limited to 50 or less people due to Covid restrictions.)

Should you choose to have a reception following the service, our Bereavement Coordinator will be happy to assist you with making the arrangements.

The Bereavement Committee will set the Fellowship Hall with linen tablecloths and chair covers, and place fresh flowers on each table.  A memory table can be set up for displaying photos, scrapbooks, certificates, etc., if you so desire.  Any floral arrangements will be brought from the sanctuary for further display. (Note: the Jones Parlor can be used for smaller receptions of 25 or fewer.)

The Church will also provide beverages (coffee, tea and water), paper products, and utensils. However, any food items will need to be provided by family and friends. You may wish to consider serving cookies or a sheet cake. Another option would be to engage an outside caterer, or bring in food/sandwich trays from Publix or another source. Food should be brought in or delivered to the Fellowship Hall at least 45 minutes prior to the start of the service. The church volunteers will receive the delivery of food, act as hostesses, serve the meal, and clean up.

We hope this information is helpful as your plans unfold. Please know that we will do our best to honor any special requests or variations to the above guidelines that you may want. Contact the church office at 407-365-3255 or

May the Lord be with you and provide comfort to you during this difficult time.
